Mumbai achieved a historic infrastructure milestone today with the completion of India's first underwater metro tunnel, connecting Bandra to Versova beneath the Arabian Sea.
The 3.5-kilometer underwater stretch is part of the Metro Line 2 extension and took over four years to complete at a cost of ₹8,000 crore.
The tunnel was constructed using the latest German shield tunneling technology and is designed to withstand extreme weather conditions and seismic activity.
Chief Minister inaugurated the tunnel in a grand ceremony attended by thousands of Mumbaikars who gathered along the seafront to witness this historic moment.
