The Ministry of Education unveiled a landmark reform to the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced, introducing significant changes that will come into effect from the 2025-26 academic session.
The revamped exam will now include a new section on aptitude, logical reasoning, and creative problem-solving in addition to the traditional Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics sections.
The decision comes after extensive consultations with IIT directors, education experts, industry leaders, and students, and aims to identify well-rounded individuals rather than those who excel only through rote learning.
The changes also include the option to appear for the exam in 12 regional languages for the first time, a move that has been widely welcomed by students from non-English medium backgrounds.
