India made history at the COP30 Climate Summit in São Paulo by signing the most ambitious national climate commitment ever made by a developing nation.
The country pledged to achieve 80% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2035, achieve net zero emissions by 2060, and invest ₹50 lakh crore in green infrastructure over the next decade.
Environment Minister announced that India will phase out coal power entirely from the electricity grid by 2038 and transition 100% of public transport to electric vehicles by 2032.
The announcement was met with a standing ovation from delegates representing 196 nations, with world leaders praising India's leadership and moral courage on the defining challenge of our generation.
